The Vespers Service for the Feast Day of Saints Raphael, Nicholas and Irene was celebrated at the Church of Saints Raphael, Nicholas and Irene on Monday morning 21 April in the presence of Consul Thomas Matsoukas, the Greek Consulate of Cape Town, Mr. Nassos Martalas, president of the Hellenic Community of Cape Town, Dr.Mishag Galukhim, chairman of the Russian Community of Cape Town, and Mrs Martha Savvas, representative for the Honorary Consul for Cyprus in Cape Town, Mr Dimitri Constandinides. The service was followed by a magnificent family get-together in the grounds of the Archbishopric in Rondebosch, Cape Town.
In his address after the service, His Eminence Archbishop Sergios welcomed everyone and thanked the large crowd present for sharing this very auspicious day. He reminded them that these saints should always be remembered and honoured because they were there to help us reach our salvation in Christ and that we should call on them for guidance and help as they can intercede for us on the highest level.
