Evangelization, social welfare and sustainable development are the threefold pillars of Orthodox Diocese of Burundi and Rwanda's mission

Innocentios Byakatonda

Six months ago, around a hundred people have been catechized in different parishes and communities in Rwanda; and they are ready to be baptized by the mid of September, 2016.
Since early 2013, His Grace Innocentios Byakatonda was fully dedicated himself to care for the Rwandans who have been for long time eagerly wishing to become orthodox... believers, through pastoral visits and intensive catechism activities; despite the fact that limited financial resources, personnel and clergy.
Catechism is word delivered from a Greek verb "katixo" which means to catechize, or to instruct, guide, educate someone in various religious matters. Catechism is a strong instrument for initiating, empowering, guiding the people about basic truth of the church. It is transmitted from one generation to another, and it can be done through instructions or through orally teachings.
Here is Gishari community whereby children are being catechized through games and citations after the Orthros services of 21st August 2016, conducted by Subdeacon Theodoros Musonera who is responsible for this community while waiting their priest who will fully serve these people.
It is not an easy work but it is possible.
Please, keep our mission in your prayers.
