Innocentios Byakatonda
"With the blessing of His Grace Innocentios Byakatonda, Bishop of Burundi and Rwanda, we have celebrated in Rwamagagana, the Feast of Saint Paraskeva of Iasi this Saturday on 14 October 2017 in the Parish of Saint Apostles in Rwamagana . During the Divine Liturgy we have sung the Troparion of Saint Paraskeva in Kinyarwanda, and Reader Anastasios who participated to the ITO this 2017 in Iasi gave to the faithful the testimony about incorruptibility of the body of Saint Paras...keva and told them her life of fasting, and fighting against passions and her love for poor.
The faithful of Rwamaga have a special devotion of Saint Paraskeva because she spent her last years in the church called the Church of the Holy Apostles, and she devoted her life to Christ since her childhood. So We take Saint Paraskeva as the protector of more than one hundred children of the Church of Twelve Apostles of Rwamagana who are willing to devote their life to Christ.
After the Divine Liturgy celebrated by Father Panaghiotis from Rwabutazi, the Faithful of Holy Apostles of Rwamagana mobilized the youth of the schools surrounding the Parish of Rwamagana for the long procession against corruption , passions and evil acts on honoring Saint Paraskeva who quenched the burning coal of the passions when she was at their age.
After the Procession of around 2 kilometers, the dancers of Orthodox Church of Twelve Apostles of Rwamagana performed the traditional dance and drama fighting corruption and passions. The local authority of the sector, district and police have supported that initiative and we had some visitors from others districts. .
