THE CADETS OF THE GREEK NAVAL ACADEMY AT THE PATRIARCHATE OF ALEXANDRIA

 
 
 
On 24th July 2017, His Beatitude Theodoros II, Pope and Patriarch of Alexandria and All Africa, welcomed to the Patriarchal See in the presence of His Eminence Narkissos Metropolitan of Accra, Patriarchal Vicar of Alexandria, the students of the Naval Cadet Academy of the Greek Navy, as part of their annual summer educational voyage, which is taking place these days in Alexandria.
The Cadets were accompanied by the Defense Attaché of Greece in Cairo Captain B. Tsoukas, the Commander of the warship “PGY PROMETHEUS” Lieutenant Commander Adamantios Christodoulou and Officers of the Academy.
During the meeting, His Beatitude spoke about the history and the missionary activities of the ancient Patriarchate on the African continent, thanked the Navy for the donation, manufacture and transport of bells for the needs of the churches throughout Africa and wished the Cadets a successful career. Subsequently, the Commander and His Beatitude exchanged commemorative gifts and the Cadets from the Academy had the opportunity of being taken on a conducted tour of the Patriarchate, the Museum and the Patriarchal Sacristy.
On the evening of the same day, His Beatitude the Patriarch, accompanied by the Very Reverend Archimandrite Daniel Biazis, Chief Secretary of the Holy Synod, went to the Naval Station of Alexandria and boarded the warship “PGY PROMETHEUS”, thereby returning the visit of the Cadets of the Naval Academy.
